What do you need to lose?

Many reading this will automatically say “weight”. And sure, most of us have some extra weight. However, that extra weight may not be the best health priority and honestly, by focusing on an area of your life that isn’t supporting you, you may find that the weight you think you need to lose, comes off naturally.

Close your eyes and think about the thing in your life that you want to get rid of. What do you need to lose?

For me, it’s anxiety.

It might be a bad job, a toxic friend, debt something in your life isn’t supporting you to be your best self.

What is it? Name it.

Now comes the difficult part. Acknowledging the thing you need to get rid of is just the start. Now, the work begins. How do you lose this thing? How do you get rid of it?

My anxiety for example is caused by a number of things:

  • My job
  • Sugar intake
  • Poor sleep
  • Not following my path and purpose
  • Alcohol intake
  • Grief
  • Genetics

I am keenly aware of the things that cause my anxiety to increase and how my decisions impact my anxiety. I know, for example, that when I eat sugary foods and drink alcohol, my anxiety is going to ramp up for the next three days. I know that if I don’t exercise daily, I will begin to feel depressed and tearful – worried about the world.

I also recently learned that when I am experiencing grief, my anxiety ramps up to panic attack levels. Can’t really do much to control grief, but it helps me to understand why I am feeling what I am feeling.

So your job is to think about what you need to lose.

To get clear on that.

And then to think about what steps you can take to lose it, to get rid of it.

So let’s say that you want to lose exhaustion. You’re tired of being tired.

What’s causing you to be tired? It might be:

  • Junk food
  • No consistent sleep routine
  • Alcohol intake at night
  • Caffeine
  • Stress
  • Hormones
  • Children
  • Pets
  • Sleep apnea
  • Etc….

You get the picture. Now you have a clearer vision of what’s causing your troubles and you can take some positive steps toward change.
